No surgery...

We got up at 4:30 this morning to give Cooper his medicine and get ready to go to the hospital for surgery.  Cooper felt really hot and seemed uncomfortable and angry.  I took his temp and it was 103.2.  Not good.  We took him up to the hospital anyway, but we were pretty positive his surgery was going to get canceled.  Sure enough, the anesthesiologist took one look at his chart and said she didn't feel comfortable putting him under.  I don't blame her; have you seen his history?  Anyway, Dr. C said he has some openings Thursday or Friday.  The anesthesiologist said that would be ok with her as long as he didn't get really sick.  So as long as this was just a random fever and not indicative of him getting sick, it looks like the surgery is still going to happen this week.  If he does continue to get sicker, the surgery will be postponed at least six weeks to make sure his airway is completely healed.

On a personal note, as soon as we found out Cooper was not having surgery, I swear Cooper got better.  Right now, he is smiling and happy.  I swear he did this on purpose; somehow he knew.

This is about poop...and penises.

Today, Cooper pooped.  It was significant because it was solid.  This means he is FINALLY eating enough solid food that it is affecting his poop.  So, yay!  You know you love me for sharing that.

In penis related news, his surgery that was supposed to be in October is finally going to happen.  Monday.  So please pray for Cooper and his well-being.  This is going to be Cooper's longest (4-5 hours) and most painful surgery to date.  I just really hope he doesn't get pneumonia again.  Dr. C is pretty on top of things, though, and is prescribing a much more broad-spectrum antibiotic than he normally would in hopes of preventing pneumonia.

I'll let you know!!

Flooring Catastrophes and Cooper's stomach

Several (like 6) weeks ago, our air conditioner condensation pan got clogged and leaked into our walls and floors.  It affected the hallway, living room, master bedroom, guest bedroom, and the wall between the hallway and guest bedroom.  A restoration company came out, pulled up most of the affected flooring, and put huge dryers and de-humidifiers all around the house.

This is what our hallways have looked like for the last five weeks or so:

It was a hot, loud, and long weekend with all the drying going on.  Then, we had to decide on flooring.  We went with a local company that was recommended to me by a friend.  They gave us a great deal, but the flooring wasn't in until June 4.  Scheduling wise, they weren't able to start putting the floors in until today.  So, for the next several days, we are in a hotel.  Cooper's pediatrician was not comfortable with Cooper being around so much dust.  The kid already has crappy lungs, why expose them to all of that?  The flooring guys came for a few hours today.  They pulled up the flooring in the living room and dining room.  They also started on the installation.  Here is the small section of living room they have completed:

Looks good, right?  It's a laminate that is supposed to look like some type of pine.  That's really all the details that I remember.

In completely unrelated news, Cooper had a doctor's appointment today.  It was an already scheduled,  but much needed, GI appointment.  A few weeks ago, Cooper had some purplish/black stuff come out of his button right after his 8:30 p.m. feed.  This happened a couple of times, so Brad tested his diaper for blood and it was positive.  Dr. G, his GI, had us increase his prevacid for a couple of weeks and see what happened.  Well, it continued to happen a few times a week, but oddly only after that 8:30 feeding.  So I saved a some of what I got out of his stomach a couple of times (yes, I am that mom) and we took it in to the appointment today.  Here is what it looked like (only a little gross):

Well it too came back positive for blood, even though Dr. G DOESN'T think that purplish/black stuff is blood, since it doesn't act like blood.  So, poor Cooper got stuck so they could do a CBC and check for anemia, among other things (not sure what, but Brad does).  Hopefully, we'll get those results soon.

New Things

Cooper has been up to some new tricks this week.  First, he "drew" a picture at school this week.  I know he actually did the dots, because he had marker on his hands and wrists.  Here it is:

Isn't it just so cute!?  It's already on my fridge, obviously.

The other thing that is new this week is that Cooper is sleeping with a pillow!  As you can see, he sleeps with a plethora of stuffed animals.  I figured he was probably ready for a pillow too.  Honestly, this is how he sleeps at night.  I especially like the moose spread eagle around his face; keeping it classy, Coops:

Baptism

Austin and Jessica asked us to be God-parents for little Charlotte.  We were so honored and excited!  The Baptism was Memorial Day weekend, and it was awesome getting to see the Schneider clan twice in two months.  Not only did Jessica rescue my stranded pictures from my camera, she also shared her dad's pictures from the event.

The twins about to be Baptized:

The twins received applause from the Congregation because they were twins.  It was really cute.

Afterward, there was a nice party at Tom and Nancy's house.  We had a wonderful time, and are so happy to be such an important part of little Charlotte's life!!

Texas Vacation... only a month late

LAST month, Brad, Coops, and I took a vacation to Texas.  As you know, the middle of our trip was a little dramatic with a surprise hospitalization, but before that, we had a great time!  We arrived late Sunday afternoon.  Monday evening we had a crawfish boil with Ritt and Chelsea, because that's just what we do when we're together.

Mmmm.... crawfish:

Cooper LOVED hanging out with Chelsea!

And Ritt

We ate crawfish, but Cooper ate alligator.

Celeste stopped by!!

The next day, Tuesday, we went to the lake in R and C's boat.  At first, Cooper was NOT a fan of his life jacket.

But then he was ok with it.

Cooper and mommy!

Love, love, love his little seersucker bathing suit!!

Mmmm, a toy that I can chew on that floats, just in case.

 The men:

He does have a lot of hair:

Chelsea "driving" the boat:

Ritt was the only one brave enough to get in; it was COLD!

We were the only people on the lake.  It was awesome.

Then little man had to take a nap.

That night, we went to NIOSA, one of our favorite Fiesta events.  We saw Amber and Jeff:

Chelsea and I got cascarones to use on the guys, but we of course had to use them on each other!

Favorite picture of the trip; this is so us:

Brad and Chelsea bring out the goofy in each other:

Not that Brad and Ritt are any better:

That night, we had to take Cooper to the hospital.  But after we made it to Houston, we had more fun times!  The men: Brad, Austin, and Ethan.  Cooper, unfortunately was asleep.

Compared to his cousins, Cooper is a GIANT!!

This one is my favorite; not sure why:

I took this just because it is amazing we have kept Cooper alive as long as we have.  I found him like this, with his blanket over his head.

Cooper and his Nana.

Other than our brief hospital stay, we really did have a fun and memorable trip!!
